Because of what Christ did for us on the cross we have a future in glory to look forward. to. This knowledge makes living not only livable, but the harder life gets, the more peace and grace we receive from God. Tribulations work patience in us because there is no way to speed up the process. A trial has a set time of endurance and no amount of fussing trying harder, or pushing will change that. Jesus had to endure God's timing on the cross. Jesus was to die on Passover at sunset and was bruised and beaten till then. There was no way Jesus could make that time speed up. Even Jesus felt abandoned by God. But God sent his angels to minister to Jesus. When he died they received him, washed him and cared for his wounds. God raised him justified and cleansed that we might be just and cleansed with that same blood that he shed.
Patience works experience. In other words when we have to wait for something it causes our trust level to rise. My mother was coming to visit me and everything came against her to prevent her from coming. Instead of giving up, she became more determined to come. Her patience and perseverance payed off and she was able to come. Once you have experienced God's breakthroughs you will have hope in the future. God said he would never leave us or forsake us. It is easier to believe that once you've experienced it to be true. This hope, expectation, confidence will help you call out to God early the next time.
Lord, thank you that you have custom-ordered our trials for us. They have caused us to lean totally on you and you have proven to be trustworthy.
