Wed.’s Devo- Noah

Read Gen. 6: 5-13

It is hard for us to imagine a world so evil that God would totally destroy it and start over. Why that generation and not ours? The difference was the supernatural people on the earth doing such evil that we can not imagine. Satan had found a way to pollute God’s creation, first by sin, then by infiltrating their bloodline. According to the Book of Enoch, these creatures taught man how to extract metal from the earth and make weapons of destruction and how to take herbs and mix them together and make hallucinating drugs. They held dark secrets of the demonic realm and they were leading man in their rituals. But, before he destroyed the whole earth God found one man, Noah who was pure in his bloodline. God needed a pure bloodline to bring forth his son, Jesus, and he found it in Noah.

Noah means rest. Noah walked with God in the midst of a perverted and evil generation. When Noah was 500 years old he had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Their names meant: a name, enraged, and to open. They signified what God was about to do on the earth. He was going to exalt his name above the demonic powers that were prevailing because he had finally had enough. In his anger and judgment he would open the heavens and the earth and bring forth water to kill all living persons except for Noah and his family and the animals. What God did then is a picture of what judgment will look like in the end, only then it will be by fire and not water.

Lord, may we be pure in our bloodline and walk with you as Noah did.
