Read Gen. 6:17-7:5
God deals out judgment in the first verse and deliverance in the next. The judgment: all the earth will be destroyed. The deliverance: God establishes his covenant with Noah and his family and they will be saved. This is great news for us living in the last days. Yes, there will be judgment on the earth and all flesh will be destroyed but God will deliver his family above it. I loved the movie “Bruce Almighty” where the animals just showed up. Remember, back then man and animal were friends and the animals weren’t afraid of people. That would have been a fun time to live. We will get to experience that in Millennium. It says in verse 20 that the animals would come to him. The work came in gathering all the food to feed the zoo. I love the last verse: “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him. so did he.” I pray that God would say that about my life.
Noah was told to take 7 one the clean animals so that he would have enough to sacrifice when it was over. After 7 days, the rain was going to come down. I wonder what Noah thought rain was seeing it had never rained before. It was probably a new word to them. So, Noah had 7 days to get the animals situated in their places on the ark and gather enough food to feed them for several months. It would rain for 40 straight days but then it would take a while for the rain to subside. That is a lot of food! And once again it says that Noah did all that the Lord commanded.
Lord, may we learn to be that obedient that we would do all that You command us to do no matter how foolish it seems at the time.
