Thurs.’s Devo - The Ark

Read Gen. 6: 14-16

Enoch and Noah are a picture of the rapture. Both were taken out of the world without having to die. Enoch was taken to heaven and Noah was taken to ride the waters above the earth while the whole earth went through tribulation and judgment because of sin. Noah was told to build an ark to live in while God was destroying the earth. This ark is not only a picture of heaven but a picture of the rest we should live in while we live here on earth. He was told to make it of gopher wood. Gopher wood would float and not water log. The gopher wood stands for the salvation we clothe ourselves in through the blood of Jesus. That is what keeps the storms of life from overwhelming us. The dimensions were 300x50x30. The ratio of the length to width is 6 to 1. Six is the number of man and one is the number of God. The height was 3 different levels which represent the 3 levels of God: father, son and Holy Spirit and the 3 levels of heaven. Years ago the Naval Academy assigned a project. They were given one dimension: the length, and were told to fashion a boat that would not sink under any circumstance. They were divided into 10 groups. One group decided they would build theirs in direct proportion to the Ark. When they brought their rectangular box in everyone laughed. But when they put all the boats in the vat and turned on the generator and the fans blew within a few minutes every vessel was at the bottom except the one built like the Ark. God is our refuge that can weather any storm. One day, like Enoch, the body of Christ will be taken out of this earth because we are clothed with the blood of Jesus.

There was a window in the ark that looks toward heaven. When we go through storms we need to look only up to God and not at our storm. There was a door on the side which represents Jesus. He is the door to salvation and there is only one way in, and it is through that door.

Lord, thank you for the ark you provide for us through your Word and the Holy Spirit. May we enter into your rest and allow you to carry us through our storms.
