Fri.’s Devo - Noah’s Line

Read Gen. 5:25-32

We’ll try to get further than yesterday! Enoch’s son was Methuselah. He was the longest living person on the earth living 969 years. He died the day the flood started. He was the last of the long-lifers. After the flood man’s days were cut much shorter. During Methuselah’s life time he had a son named Lamech whose name means “to bringing low”. He must have felt low because when he had Noah he thought Noah would bring comfort to their hard work in a soil that had been cursed.

Noah means “rest”. Lamech lived 777 years. He lived that many years because it was the perfect time for God to bring the world to completion. The number 100 means “full reward”, and the number 10 means “measured for the purpose of accepting or rejecting that which was measured”. Since the number 7 is the measurement that means “complete; all; finished;and rest” that means Lamech was measured by God and found complete and perfect. He will receive a complete reward and enter into rest. He completely fulfilled his destiny. Lamech died 5 years before his father, Methuselah. When Noah was 500 years old he had 3 sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. I am going to great detail to explain numbers because God goes to great detail to explain numbers. He is concerned about everything that goes on in the earth and he has a master plan.

Lord, may we live in your master plan.
