Wed.’s Devo - Battle of the Evil Forces

Read Gen. 14:1-5

Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, “that which has been is what will be, and that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” This is a spiritual law. We can look at stories in the Bible and they can show us what happened in the heaven lies eons ago. This is one of those chapters. It starts with a battle of 4 kings against 5. If you decipher the meanings of the names in order it tells a story of what happened in the heavens between the forces of evil. Satan’s forces do not get along and they fight one another like they fight us. Here is the story: There was a (1) sayer of darkness who was like a (2) devouring lion. (3) God chastened him and eternally bound him and (4) cast him out of heaven. He fought against (1) evil forces that were fettered (2) in wickedness and in bondage. (3) They had a change of fathers and chose the one of the earth. (4) They became soaring troops that (5) swallowed everyone they could and brought them down. This is the story of Satan and his fall to earth and a rebellion in his forces. All these forces met in the valley called “hunting” which was a place of death (salt sea). For 12 years they had served the one who had eternally bound them (Satan) and in the 13th year they rebelled. The number 12 means “united” - these kings came together as one to fight one another. They rebelled in the 13th year which the number 13 means “rebelled”. In the 14th Chedorlaomer fought and prevailed over 4 more people groups doubling their forces. The number 14 means “double”. Tomorrow we will learn the meanings of the ones he conquered. Isn’t it interesting how nothing in the Bible is written for naught. It all has meaning.

Lord, teach us your mysteries that we might see your greatness.
