Wednesday's Devo - So This is Why We Pray!?!

Read 2 Sam 17
God is in control of this whole mess the world has gotten itself in and can turn the tables whenever he wants to. Look at what He did in today's reading. Absalom decides to take the advise of Hushai, (David's plant) instead of his own advisor, Ahithophel. This one event changed history. David now has time to escape, refuel, and get God's strategy. God turns the hearts of men any way he wants to. He turned Absalom's heart to take Hushai's advice and wait to form an army, then go after David. Poor Ahithophel couldn't take the rejection and killed himself. How powerful pride is.
Two spies left to tell David what Absalom was going to do and he was seen by a young boy. This boy went and told Absalom. God had a place of hiding for the spies, Jonathan and Ahimaaz, and they were able to get their message to David.
I wonder if this is a glimpse into the spirit realm. When God is trying to get wisdom or warning to us he sends angels into the enemy camp to gain information of their plans. Then the angels need our prayers to get them through the powers of the air to give us the answers and wisdom we need. I think that is why we are called to fast and pray in the spirit. We cannot conceive what is happening in the spirit realm, but God knows. We have to join in the mission and do our part. Not only did David get the info he needed to be safe, but God spread a table for him and fed him. (Like manna in the wilderness.)
Whatever trial we are going through we need to be praying and asking God for wisdom and direction. Sometimes getting the answer takes a fight in the heavenlies. Remember, we don't fight against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph. 6:12)
Put on your armor and fight.
