Wed.'s Devo - No Satisfaction

Read Pr. 30:17
We are still talking about the things that are never satisfied. Yesterday we talked about the first three and today we are talking about the fourth which is the worst one. It is a person who derides his father's wisdom and totally disrespects his mother. God is big into honoring those who go before us whether they are our parents or our leaders. It doesn't even say if they are righteous we are suppose to honor them. We are just to honor them because they are our parents or our leaders. The commandment to honor our father and mother is the birds and the will devour their flesh. e only commandment that has a promise attached to it though they all do. The attachment says that we honor them that we might live long on the earth. Today's scripture comes with a promise too: if we don't honor them the birds and eagles will eat our dead bodies. That was the worse thing that could happen to your dead body in the Old Testament. That is why they were always wanting to have the body of their dead kings and loved ones. To have your body left on the battlefield for the birds to eat was abominable. In the end God is going to throw the bodies of the unrighteous dead to the birds for them to eat. (Eze. 39:4; Jer. 12)
Lord, help us to be satisfied only in you.
