Read Pr. 29: 9-14
All these scriptures have to do with the foolish man and the wise man. It makes me think of Saul and David. Saul was the foolish ruler who forsake God to worship himself. He was so full of jealousy and pride that he destroyed himself and his kingdom. He hated David, who was upright and honored God, and wanted to murder him. He gave no rest to his kingdom because he was determined to kill God's plan of making David king. He actually thought he could outsmart God. He turned his kingdom against David but God prevailed. He gave David favor and protection and watched over his word to make David king. When David did become king he faithfully judged the poor. He brought Mephibosheth, the cripple into his home and fed him at his table. God promised David that his throne would be established forever and it has been. Through David's line came Jesus who has an everlasting kingdom that will never be brought down.
Lord, help us to live our lives with eternity in mind. Watch over your word to perform it in our lives and let your righteousness prevail.
