Fri.’s Devo - God’s Plan on the Earth

Read: 2 Timothy 4:19-22; Hebrews 1-4:13
God’s nature remains the same but his movement on the earth does change. In the Old Testament, he spoke through prophets like Moses, Samuel, Elijah and Jerimiah, to name only a few. In the New Testament he chose to speak through Jesus. When Jesus left he chooses to speak through his Holy Spirit to all who will listen.
Jesus was God’s son whom God placed his own glory and sent him to earth. He became part man, part God. He felt things like man feels them but learned to see things through his Father’s eyes. Jesus was with God when he created the earth and he will be with him when he ends the earth. Just like that grave cloth that was folded up in the tomb, God will fold up the earth and it will be over as we know it. Then he will make a new earth with new skies and we will live there and Jesus will be the king. One day this whole earth will be under Jesus authority.
Jesus had to come to earth and become one of us so he could become our high priest. A high priest must be taken from the people and be subject to sin so he can relate to them. The high priest in heaven was Melchizedek but he had only walked the earth as a heavenly being. He was not born on earth. Jesus had to be born on earth and die so he could qualify to be our priest and so he could he could take the fear out of death. He was the first to rise from the dead. He warns us not to harden our hearts like the children of Israel did. They woke up every day to miracles like manna and yet their hearts became hardened. When they were faced with an obstacle their default was unbelief and complaining. God finally got fed up with it and killed them all and allowed their children to go into the promised land.
God promises us a place of rest in him where no matter what is going on in our lives, we can rest in our spirit. We need to walk in that now or we will be overtaken by depression and fear. Remember, the word of God is active and powerful and he sees everything. He will come to our rescue! Only believe.
Lord, we trust in your unfailing love for us. We know that we are chosen to live in this century and this dispensation of time. We are so thankful for this privilege. Strengthen us for the day by your Holy Spirit’s power.
