Read Pr. 28:11-16
Jesus said that it was hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. He didn't say it was impossible, just hard. Sadly, most rich people don't realize they have been entrusted with wealth to give to the kingdom of God, not for their own pleasure. When they do realize that, they are great givers. Godly leaders bless a nation, a business, or wherever they lead, but ungodly leaders usually oppress their workers. But, verse 13 gives them hope. It says that he that confesses his sins and forsakes them will have mercy. It is never too late to ask for forgiveness and mercy. Verse 16 gives us a great promise: if we give freely and don't covet our stuff then God will prolong our days. He gives us more time because we are producing what he wants produced and we are not holding on to what he has given us. I have found that the more I give, the easier it is the next time. This stuff we have is so temporal and will not follow us to heaven so why do we always want more?
Lord, help us to give you everything and not covet anything. Give us a vision of eternity.
