Tues.’s Devo - Many Visions

Read: Zechariah 4:1-5:11; Revelation 14:1-20; Psalm 142:1-7; Proverbs 30:21-23 Zechariah was shown a lamp stand with a bowl of oil with seven lamps around it. Two olive trees stood on either side of the lamp. When Zechariah was asked if he knew what this meant, he said he didn’t. The angel told him that this was a word to Zerubbabel that it was not by might or strength that he was going to rebuild the Temple, but it was by God’s spirit. He explains that the seven lamps represented the eyes of the Lord that search the whole world. The two trees were the two anointed ones who stand in the court of the Lord of all the earth. They could be “justice and mercy” and they could be represented by the apostles and the prophets. *** Next, Zechariah saw a flying scroll that appeared to bee about 30 feet long and 15 feet wide. It contained the curse on the ones who steal and lie. It would go to every house where the people stole or swore falsely. *** Zechariah was told to look up and see what was coming. It was a basket for measuring grain. It was filled with the sins of everyone throughout the earth. When the lid was lifted, inside was a woman whose name was “Wickedness.” Two flying women came and took the basket to Babylon where they would build a temple for it. *** In Revelation, John saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion. With him were the 144,000 who had been sealed with the Lord’s name. A sound came from heaven of harpists playing. A great choir sang praised to the Lord and the only ones from earth that could sing the song were the 144,000. They sang with heaven because they had kept themselves pure from all the wickedness on the earth. *** Another angle flew with the Good News proclaiming to everyone on the earth to fear the Lord and give him glory. The time of judgment had come. Babylon has fallen and all who worshiped the beast and the statue and had its mark must drink the wine of God’s anger. During this time, God’s people must endure persecution patiently and keep their faith in Jesus. *** Those who die with their faith in Jesus during this time would be blessed and their good deeds would follow them to heaven. *** A command was given to the angels with the sickles to harvest the earth for it was time. The whole earth was harvested. Another angel was told to destroy the earth with fire from the altar and gather the grapes that were ripe for judgement. They were put in God’s winepress and their blood flowed 180 miles long and as high as the bridle on a horse. *** Lord, prepare us for these days ahead. Show us what to do to be ready and have our hearts in the right place. Thank you that you have shown us this in advance so we don’t have to be afraid or worry. We praise you with our whole hearts.
