Sun.’s Devo - The Last Battle -

Read: Zechariah 12:1-13:9; Revelation 19:1-21; Psalm 147:1-20; Proverbs 31:1-7 God gave Zechariah a vision of the fate of Israel. God was going to make Israel like a poisonous drink that killed all those who came against it. Their enemies would fear fighting God’s people and God’s people would find their strength in the Lord. The clans of Judah would burn their neighboring nations with fire, but those who live in Jerusalem would be safe. *** The people of Judah would be victorious first, and then the people of Jerusalem so that the people of Jerusalem could not claim to be more honorable than the rest of Judah. (God will level the hierarchy of the church.) The weakest will be as strong as King David. *** God will pour out his grace upon the family of David and they will come to know Jesus as their Messiah. They will mourn the fact that they just came to realize this. It will become a very personal event as they meet Jesus as their personal Savior. *** Zechariah saw the fountain of the Lord which will cleanse them from their sins. They will forget their idols and their false prophets. *** Two-thirds of the people will die and the group that survives will come out of the fire refined as gold and silver. They will call upon the Lord and call him their God. *** Two-thirds of the people did die in the Roman wars. *** In Revelation, John hears sound of voices in heaven praising the Lord because God had punished the great prostitute and has avenged the martyrs. *** The voices continued praising the Lord and proclaimed it was time for the wedding feast of the Lamb because the bride had prepared herself for this moment. *** Heaven opened and John saw a white horse whose rider was named Faithful and True. He was crowned with many crowns. His robe was dipped in blood and his title was the Word of God. He was accompanied with the armies of heaven all dressed in white and riding white horses. From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He would rule them with an iron rod and with the wrath of God. On his thigh was written King of all Kings and Lord of all lords. *** Another angel called to the vultures to come and gather for the feast of Leviathan. They would eat the flesh of kings, generals, warriors, their horses and all humanity who rejected the Lord. *** Zachariah saw the beast and the kings of the world and their armies gathered to fight the Lord and his armies. The beast and the false prophet were captured and thrown alive into the lake of fire. Their entire army was killed by the Word of God and the vultures feasted on their dead bodies. *** Lord, it is so good to be on the winning team. Thank you for purchasing us for your purposes. May we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
