Sat.’s Devo - Our Inheritance -
Read: Ezekiel 44:1-45:12; 1 Peter 1:1-12; Psalm 119:17-32; Proverbs 28:8-10
Ezekiel was taken to the eastern gateway but it was closed and he was told would not be opened ever again because the Lord had entered that gate. Ezekiel was taken through the north gateway and he saw that the glory of the Lord filled the Temple.
*** They had done much to arouse God’s anger. They had brought uncircumcised foreigners who had no heart for the Lord into God’s sanctuary. They had broken his covenant and hired foreigners to take charge of the sanctuary.
*** Those of the tribe of Levi who had strayed and encouraged people to worship idols years ago must bear the consequences of their unfaithfulness. If they repent, they may be Temple guards and gatekeepers and kill the animals for the sacrifices and be there to help the people, but they may not minister as priests or touch anything holy. Only the family of Zadok who remained faithful would be able to minister as priests. There are many promises for those who are faithful, (Heb. 3:14, 2 Tim. 4:7, Matt. 24:9, Rev. 2:10, and Rev. 2:26) to name a few.
*** When the priests enter the gateway to the inner courtyard, they must only wear linen clothing so that they won’t perspire. (No works of the flesh will be allowed.) This clothing was only to be worn in the Temple.
*** The priests are also judges to the people and their decisions must be based on God’s laws. Strict regulations were given to the priests concerning marriage, hair, wine and being in the presence of the dead. These requirements are to keep them holy and have spiritual meanings as well as practical ones.
*** Everything the priests own comes from the Lord and from the gifts given to the Lord. They would live on their own priestly land which would be next to the Temple. This land would be 3.33 miles wide by 8.33 miles long. Beyond there land would be a strip where anyone could live. The prince would own a strip of land on both sides of the priest’s land on the east and west side. Beyond his land would be the tribal lands.
*** There would be no more cheating the people out of their land from the princes. God also gave them a standard to measure by. No more cheating people out of their merchandise and their pay.
*** Peter wrote his letters to the churches in Asia Minor who were suffering persecution and rejection for their faith in Christ. He reminded them of their great inheritance awaiting them. Joy and salvation was waiting for them and their trials made them shine like gold. This salvation had been prophesied for years by the prophets and was now being manifested in them. Even the angles are watching to see how God’s Word was unfolding.
*** Lord, it is such a privilege to be a part of your great plan. May we never lose the wonder of who you are and how grateful it is to be chosen to be your children. Thank you!
I have always loved to study the Bible and look for hidden meanings to know God better. I think God hides things and shares them with those who will spend the time seeking them out. He loves to reveal his mysteries with us. I pray that I will rightly divide the truth so that others might love his word like I do. I pray that God will be magnified in your life as you read my blog.
