Wed.’s Devo - Babylon Has Fallen!
Read: Zechariah 10:1-11:17; Revelation 18:1-24; Psalm 146:1-10; Proverbs 30:33
The Lord continued his message from yesterday’s Chapter 9. He told the people to ask HIM for the rain in the spring instead of their household gods, fortune tellers and interpreters of dreams. God was the only one who could make rain. God complained against the shepherds who were not leading the people. God would punish the leaders and He would be their shepherd. He would make Judah strong and glorious. With God leading them into battle, they will win. He would take the remnant and bless them to become a great nation again. God would judge Assyria and Lebanon and their shepherds would be destroyed.
*** God told Zechariah to go and be the shepherd for the sheep that were intended for slaughter. They were oppressed by their leaders. He took two staffs and name one Favor and the other Union. He got rid of their three evil shepherds in weeks. But the people hated Zechariah, too. Zechariah lost patience with them and gave up being their shepherd. He told them they were one their own. To show this, he took the staff he had called Favor and cut it in two showing the covenant that he had made with all the nations was broken. He told them they could give him his wages if they wanted to. They gave him 30 pieces of silver. God told him to throw it to the potter. Then the told Zechariah to cut the staff called Union in two showing that the bond of unity between Judah and Israel was also broken. Then he told Zechariah to go and play the part of the worthless shepherd. He stopped caring for those who were dying, hurt, young or hungry. God said that this is how the shepherds would treat them. They would devour the healthy and not care for the injured. He issued a statement about the sorrow that would await the shepherd who acted like that.
*** In Revelation the cry went out that Babylon had fallen! Babylon had become the home of demons and a hideout for every foul vulture and animal. All the nations and been affected by her immorality. The kings of the world had enjoyed her evil pleasures and the merchants had grown rich over her wares. This sounds like America and Washington D.C. It has housed pedo parties and been a hideout for money-laundering, sex-trafficking, and drugs… just to name a few of their sins.
*** A voice from heaven called to the people not to take part in Babylon’s sins or they will be punished also. She will receive twice the penalty she did to others. She caused terror on others (think of the Covid scare) and glorified herself and lived in luxury. (They made millions off of closing businesses and funneling people to their big stores. They made millions off of the vaccines which only killed more people.) But, their day of reckoning is coming. Their luxury will be matched with torment and sorrow. The plagues they put on others will be put on them and overtake them in a single day. They will experience death, mourning and famine.
*** The leaders of other nations will watch in horror as they see the judgment falling. The big businesses will watch in terror and the international traders will watch from their cities as they see the smoke from Babylon’s destruction. Their sources of wealth are gone.
*** God tells heaven and the people of God to rejoice over her fate for at last God has judged her for their sakes.
*** The mighty angel picked up a bolder and threw it into the sea and said that the evil Babylon system would be thrown down as fast and thoroughly destroyed just like that boulder. It would never rise again.
*** Lord, we look forward to the day that we will be rid of the evil leaders and the evil things they do. We look forward to righteous leaders and justice. May earth reflect your Kingdom in heaven.
I have always loved to study the Bible and look for hidden meanings to know God better. I think God hides things and shares them with those who will spend the time seeking them out. He loves to reveal his mysteries with us. I pray that I will rightly divide the truth so that others might love his word like I do. I pray that God will be magnified in your life as you read my blog.
